Nella cultura europea del XIX secolo E.T.A. Hoffmann può essere considerato come un punto di riferimento irrinunciabile: maestro del genere fantastico, precursore dell'indagine dell'inconscio, anticipatore del surrealismo, cantore della sensibilità umana, del dubbio, dell'incertezza, che erano stati scattered from the previous century.

Carlo Bordoni is Professor of Sociology processi culturali all’Università di Firenze e di Estetica all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara. Ha insegnato all’Orientale di Napoli e allo IULM di Milano. Si è occupato di sociologia e di critica letteraria, scrivendo per “Paese Sera”, “L’Indice dei Libri”, “Labirinti del fantastico”, “Il Ponte”: Nella narrativa ha esordito nel 1965 col romanzo giovanile L’ultima frontiera e, di recente, si è riproposto con Il nome del padre (Baroni, 2001).
Per Solfanelli ha pubblicato La paura il mistero l’orrore dal romanzo gotico a Stephen King (1989), La fabula bella. Una lettura sociologica dei Promessi Sposi (1991), l’antologia Tales of Hearts of Darkness (1993). Among his other publications: Introduction to the sociology of literature (Pacini, 1974), The social practice of the text (Clueb, 1981) The novel consumption (Liguori, 1993), Conversations on the vampire (Neopoiesis, 1995), Stephen King ( Liguori, 2002), the anthology Shadow Line (Pellegrini, 2004), Introduction to the sociology of art (Liguori, 2005), the complex text (Clueb, 2005).
